An emotional moment between Tim Walz and his teenage son, Gus, has sparked a flood of admiration and approval, but it has at the same time led to ugly bullying attacks on the internet.

Gus ADHD Walz, who suffers from a nonverbal learning disorder, as well as anxiety and ADHD, looked on eagerly from the front row of Chicago’s United Center and sobbed openly on Wednesday night as his father, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, gave his speech of acceptance at the Democratic National Convention.

Fox News posted a video of the viral moment on its TikTok page, writing "Gus Walz steals the show during dad's acceptance speech." The comments were mostly positive.

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., who spoke before Walz on Wednesday night, praised the bond between Walz and his children.

But the show of affection triggered a series of snarky and cruel comments from internet trolls, primarily MAGA supporters of former President Donald Trump, who is running against Trolls On Social Media Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and Walz in November.

Conservative columnist and provocative commentator Ann Coulter ridiculed the teenager’s tears. “Talk about weird, ” she posted on X. The post has since been deleted.

Mike Crispi, a Trump backer and content creator from New Jersey, mocked Walz’s “stupid crying son” Social Dominance on X and wrote, “Congratulations on raising your kid to be a blubbering beta male. Congrats.”

Alec Lace, a Trump follower who hosts a show about fatherhood, took his own shot at the teenager: “Get that kid a tampon already,” he wrote, in an apparent jab Gus Walz to a Minnesota state law that Walz signed as governor requiring schools to provide complimentary menstrual products to students.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Jay Weber, a conservative Milwaukee radio host, posted a message on X criticizing the Walz family, now deleted.
